My Working Day – Revelations of an Affiliate Marketer

Hey, guys! Do you have some free time? Not sure? Too busy with your work? Do you think you are paid enough for your efforts? IMO to work a lot doesn’t necessarily mean that you will earn a lot and be a rich man. How do I know that? I am an affiliate marketer. And I am ready to share some personal information with you. It is related to my so-called typical working day. Why am I going to do that? Maybe because I’m a bit vainglorious and have some free time. I like the thought that you are reading this stuff now and it may really change your life for the better. But let’s finish this introduction as I’m a bit lazy as well. I said a little bit? Ok, it’s a put down. I am a real bum when it comes to work. You know, I don’t see anything shameful in that confession. C’mon, people, nobody likes to work hard earning his/her living. Nobody likes to get up early in the morning, come home late at night, have no time and money for a good vacation or even a few sick days. Having a relaxed schedule is a dream, especially when you are well-paid for … actually for nothing.

Why did I decide to try affiliate marketing ? It was easy. Just got sick and tired of my difficult low-paid job one day. I thought: “What do I lose signing up for an affiliate program?” The answer was – nothing. I don’t need to quit the job, don’t need to make any money investments, I need only my desire to make a start. Yes, I’m a day dreamer and believe that gain should come without pain. All of us are born to be free and enjoy life. If our life turns into misery – it’s our fault as life always says “Yes” to us. If you think that you are a loser – you will stay a loser until the end of time – or until you change your mind.

If you are considering affiliate marketing as the source of an alternative income, you have probably studied tons of material on the topic. A smart approach. However, bloggers are very often inclined to paint the devil blacker than he is. Otherwise nobody would read their blog posts. That’s how blogs get their audience. They highlight the problem, designate its weak areas and offer their unique solutions. Additionally, the solution shouldn’t be simple either, because this depreciates the blogger’s work.

Are you scared enough by the stories that a successful affiliate marketer must be good at lots of complicated things? Knowing the PPC route, being able to drive traffic, picking offers that convert, writing ad copies, making landing pages, tracking conversions and CTR’s, and optimizing everything to increase ROI. But that’s not all, of course, you must know SEO, know how to research keywords, create content, drive social signals, get your site to rank, and monetize with the right offers. You also need to know how to build an email list, to make high converting capture pages and good e-mail headlines and copy to drive conversions. Sounds rather overwhelming, isn’t it?

Being an affiliate marketer myself, I can calm you down a little bit. Knowledge is power, especially today, in the age of advanced IT, that’s the truth. But you don’t need to be a know-it-all to succeed in affiliate marketing. It is a passive way of making money. Ultimately the two biggest skills that any affiliate marketer needs are to be able to drive targeted traffic and match that with a high converting offer. If you can do those two things you’ll be successful with affiliate marketing.

One aspect that is really important is choosing the right company, one of the leaders in its business niche. Personally I have chosen web design niche as it gets into the sphere of my interests. Then I picked out a company with more than 10 years of experience in the field, transparent affiliate program and a team of professionals ready to give me any kind of help and support I might need on the way. A dedicated affiliate marketing team will supply you with all necessary information to put your business on the right road. They will show you analytical data, as well, so that you will be able to see your progress and make amendments if needed.

And now, let me tell you a few words about the company and why choosing the right one is so crucial. If you cooperate with the market leaders, it’s much easier to sell their products. Firstly, the brand already has a positive image on the net. Secondly its products are of the highest quality, so it’s easy to promote them. Thirdly, these types of companies have a wide selection of items in their inventory, so it’s difficult for the user to abandon their site without making a purchase, which means that you are more likely to get your piece of the pie. The commissions vary from one program or company to another; could be 20% 30% 50% or even 100%. Let’s make simple calculations to understand clearly what sums we are talking of. The average price of a template is nearly 90 bucks. With the commission of 30% you’ll get 27 dollars per sale. Not bad, yea? Even if only 5 people a day follow your link and make a purchase you’ll get $135, so at the end of the month you will have a great bonus of $4050, which will turn into $48,600 every year. Please note that I made minimal rough calculations for demonstration purposes only. IBM made a net income for 2015 of 12.02 million U.S. dollars. I state this amount just to make you understand that you can become a part of this money turnover. And now think about millions of people surfing the internet. Pal, you have a huge product market!

Is it difficult to make decent money as an affiliate of some well-off company? See my regular working day schedule and decide yourself.

10 a.m. – 11 a.m. – Get up. Yes, I’m not an early bird, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t catch the worm.

11 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Light breakfast (it may be a glass of fresh orange juice, toast and marmalade), morning toilets, jogging + walking my dog (sometimes I combine things; this gives the illusion of saving time).

12 p.m. – Time to check my e-mail and analytical data as to my blog traffic, clicks through and so on.

12.30 p.m. – If the affiliate support team has sent me a blog post to publish, I just do that, if not, then I have to strain my brain and write something useful that will draw traffic to my blog. I usually conduct research of the hottest topics and outline a kind of plan of what to write during the month. Supposing, I have to write a blog post this time. Why not write about web design trends of 2016? It’s a popular topic, there is plenty of information about it out there, so it won’t be complex and won’t take me too long.

12.30 p.m. – 14.30 p.m. – Sweating on my article. Described 8 trends, which I personally like the most, and that are likely to endure for 2016. I don’t think that the blog posts should be too long if you don’t want to read something like this at the comment section: TLTR. (Too Long To Read). Now I need to make beautiful layouts to add spice to my article, but I guess I deserve a short break for lunch.

14.30 p.m. – 15.00 p.m. – Enjoying my lunch. I like to eat meat and vegetables and drink good freshly brewed green tea if it’s interesting for you. You see, I am an open book, sharing all my secrets with you.

15.00 p.m. – 16.00 p.m. – Making nice pics in Photoshop for my blog post, reading the article once again, undertaking some editing and publishing it.

16.00 p.m. – 18.00 p.m. – Hanging out on social networks, sharing my freshly cooked blog post and other funny or simply interesting content, commenting on others’ posts, visiting forums, ask question sites (getting involved in the discussions) and so on, gently promoting my own blog with my partner’s ad or even giving my affiliate link to any interested users. It goes without saying that I try to hook the customers on the relevant sites they visit frequently.

Don’t you think that I work too much? You are absolutely right, 5 hours a day is enough, particularly as my dog is already looking at me with a silent reproach in its eyes. OK, buddy, let’s go for a walk.

18.00 p.m. – 18.30 p.m. – Walking my dog.

18.30 p.m. – 19.30 p.m. – Cooking and eating my dinner. Let it be lasagna and tomato juice this time. I like Italian food.

19.30 p.m. – 00.00 a.m. – My free time when I play computer games, watch the latest movies, chat with family and friends.

I usually feel sleepy after midnight, so I just take a warm relaxing shower, put on my pajamas, drink a glass of cocoa and fall asleep absolutely pleased with the day that has just passed and anticipating pleasant surprises from the coming day.

If you ask me, I love my lifestyle. It’s great to be your own boss, to work 5 or less hours a day, to get up when you want to get up, to plan your day and vacation yourself. But best of all is the fact that your salary is limited only by your effort and imagination. What do you think about my working day? Would you like to have a similar schedule? Don’t be afraid to try something new. I wish you good luck and would be happy to hear from you. Please type any of your thoughts, experience, whatever, in the comment section.

  • Hey, that sound`s more like a daydreaming. I think 2 hours are not enough to write a good post. And what about the info-graphics or some quality featured images? Sure, we can always create something trivial, but really useful posts require much time and efforts!

    • Maggie, this post is more like a case study;) Your daily routine may vary, of course! Although, you are right some projects require a lot of time and efforts)!
